Housing Needs Survey

The Warmington Neighbourhood Plan (WNP) includes an aspiration to survey the housing needs of the community in Warmington:

Parish Aspiration 3
Warmington Parish Council will commission housing needs research as appropriate and investigate whether social housing in keeping with the village character could be provided by a community scheme – possibly linked to the Almshouses which already provide community social housing through a charitable scheme which could be expanded to a not for profit community scheme as an incorporated charity.

Warmington Parish Council (WPC) has enough government funding remaining from the neighbourhood plan grant to commission this survey and it is intended to do this in March/April 2021. [ The money is available because the WNP project group did much of he WNP work itself and unspent grant has to be returned but funding an HNS has been agreed by the granting agency] The intention is to gather as much information about housing in Warmington as possible and this relies on as many people as possible completing the survey whether or not you personally think you will need housing over the next 10 years – we need to collect brief information about existing housing to get the right mix in future.

The survey results are for WPC only, they are not for landowners, developers, or ENC but to enable WPC to plan ahead. One aim is to determine if the community needs (and would support) a community housing scheme to offer mixed housing for a wide range of local people. That’s why the Warmington Almshouses Charitable Trust is involved as modern almshouses schemes can offer low carbon, not for profit, community controlled housing in keeping with the village.
